This client contacted me after having fusion hair extensions installed at another salon. During our phone consultation, she explained that she had done research online and found a salon that was very close to her home and quoted her a “more afforable” price than some others that she had checked with. She later learned that her top priorities in finding a hair extension salon should have been:
-Experience
-Reputation
-Affordability
-Location
Because extensions only have to be done a few times per year, I have clients that travel from all over Southeast Texas, and I have clients that have me travel to them all over the United States to apply and maintain their hair extensions. The damaging effects of improperly applied hair extensions can be permanent, so choosing a salon that may be a few miles further away but that has much more experience and a well regarded reputation is well worth the couple extra minutes of travel!
The problems with the extensions she had applied at the other salon:
- The large bonds that attached the extensions to her hair were too large and heavy for her hair texture and density
- The bond material began flaking and peeling after only a few weeks and left bits of flaky white pieces that looked like dandruff throughout her hair
- The color of the extensions and extension bonds were not customized to blend with her natural hair that has darker roots and lighter ends
- The bonds were applied too close to her scalp which caused discomfort and damage
- The sections for each bond were not the correct shape and were not cleaned of crossed hair which causes tangling and matting
After removing her old extensions, I applied customized super fine sized bonds of Hairdreams Fusion extensions which grew out perfectly over the following 5 months. She had no matting, no flaking of the bonds, no damage or breakage after removal, and no discomfort during the wear.
